Mary Lou Onofrio's Obituary
Born January 8, 1936 in Great Bend, Kansas and passed away on September 20, 2015 in Richardson, Texas with family at her side. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Onofrio, Jr., her father Nicholas Schauf, mother, Violet Thill and brothers, Donald and Louis Schauf. She is survived by son, Tom Onofrio and wife, Pam of Plano; daughter, Beth Rice and husband, Chris of Dallas; granddaughters, Samantha, Stacy and Christine Onofrio of Plano; grandsons, Jonathan Rice, and wife DeeAnn of McKinney and Phillip Rice of Houston; and great grandchildren, Courtney and Zachary Rice. Mary grew up on the family farm in Beaver, Kansas. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy in Wichita, Kansas, and attended Wichita State University where she met her future husband, Louis Onofrio. Mary and Louis were married in Wichita in 1956. The family lived in Dallas and Garland, prior to moving to their current home in Richardson. She held several accounting positions with Rockwell Collins prior to her retirement in 1991. Upon retirement, Mima provided a foundational role in the lives of her family and loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary was an active member of the GenFriends and Legacy Users Group genealogy societies. Additionally, she was active in the Red Hat Society and Bridge groups through the Richardson Senior Center. Funeral service for Mary will be at 12:30 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the Wildwood Chapel in Restland Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior. Mima, you will forever be in our hearts. Give Papa a kiss for all of us! Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 at Restland Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the children’s charity of your choice.
