Mary Eileen Pabst's Obituary
Mary Eileen (nee Beck) Pabst passed peacefully into the loving presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at age 91, in Dallas, TX.Eileen was born December 19, 1926, in Pittsburgh, PA to August W. and Agnes E. (nee Heyl) Beck, the eldest of three children, and grew up in a loving home. She began Ursuline Academy at the age of four, attending for eight years, and Mount Mercy Academy for four years, graduating at the age of 16. She then attended what is now Carnegie-Mellon University, and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at the age of 20 with a double major in English and European History. Her curious intellect and love of history stayed with her all her life.In January, 1950, she married the love of her life, Jack. For a brief time they lived in Steubenville, OH, where Eileen wrote, produced, and starred in her own weekly radio show. They subsequently relocated to Mt. Lebanon, PA (a suburb of Pgh), where she and Jack began their family of five children.Although Eileen would be characterized as a “stay-at-home mom” in today’s vernacular, while raising her children she was very active in many volunteer organizations – always asked to lead and serve on the board. But her highest joy was being a mother and it wasn’t until her children were older that they learned indirectly of her many accomplishments because she was always “there” for her family. After her children were grown, she enjoyed traveling the world. Always a lover of opera and books – she was a prodigious reader; however, her favorite book was the Bible. She loved her Savior and she loved God’s Word and this love permeated her entire character and personality. In her latter years, she served in BSF and led bible studies in nursing homes.Always ready to listen, support, and share her wisdom, Eileen will be remembered for her keen intellect, warm personality, quick wit, ready smile, and optimistic outlook, but most of all for the strong values she instilled in her children, her deep love for and devotion to her children and grandchildren, and the godly foundation upon which she lived her life. She was adored by her family and their comfort is the knowledge they will be with her one day.She is survived by her five children: Kathleen (Joe), Brian (Mary), Neil (Diane), Liz (Michael), and Ted (Renee); her 13 grandchildren: Alex, Sarah (Dustin), Ben, Jake, Matt, Greg, Emmett, Ethan, Gretchen, Liam, Noelle, Stephanie, and Augie; her sister Jean, and brother Paul; her three nieces: Carolyn, Janet, and Jenny; and her two nephews: Brad, and Michael. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Missions Fund at Grace Bible Church, 11306 Inwood Road, Dallas TX.
