Mary Phillips' Obituary
Mary Frank Phillips, daughter of the late Thomas Frank Phillips and Mallie Hall, was born on July 4, 1933 in Waldo, Arkansas. Mary Frank graduated Waldo High School and went on to graduate from Southern Arkansas University with a degree in business. She had a long and successful career with Mobil Oil in Dallas, Texas, which had become ExxonMobil when she retired after over thirty years.After retirement, Mary spent her time traveling and camping with friends, gardening and playing her guitar. She was an amazing self-taught guitarist. Mary’s most favorite thing was caring for all the neighborhood cats. She loved her cats and had one special cat named “Tiger”.Mary peacefully left this life on October 24, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. She had battled oral cancer for the last few years but always maintained a positive attitude and love for everyone in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who were honored to be a part of her inspiring life.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mallie Phillips, and a sister, Wilma Phillips Parker and her husband Arthur Lee Parker.She is survived by: two sisters, Velna Phillips Wilkerson and Tommie Phillips; a niece, Kay Wilkerson Tabor and husband Byron Tabor; two great-nephews, Sean and David Tabor; a loving friend of many years, Ruble Mason; and numerous extended family and friends.A memorial service for Mary Phillips will be on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 12:30 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, Mary’s family requests memorial contributions be considered for the ASPCA, American Cancer Society or Southern Arkansas University. These organizations are among Mary’s favorite charities.
