Mary Powell's Obituary
Mary Powell, 90, of Dallas passed away peacefully on September 16, 2022.
Mary was born May 11, 1932 in New York City and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma graduating from Marquette High School. She attended Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State University) where she met the love of her life, Louis Powell. They quickly eloped and were married for 68 years.
Exemplifying a kind, hospitable and servant spirit, Mary was loved deeply by her family, friends and neighbors. Throughout her life, she was an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America, March of Dimes, Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, American Red Cross, school organizations and community fundraisers.
Mary and Louis were founding members of All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas where she served in the Our Lady of the Snows Circle and the Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Exchangettes Club of East Dallas.
Mary is preceded in death by husband Louis R. Powell and her parents Alice Titus Sanders and Frank Peter Sanders.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Vicki Holland and husband Jeff, Sherri Coody and husband Louis, and Jennie Kesler and husband Brent.
She was a fun and loving “Memaw” who adored her six grandchildren, Kevin Craig, Kelly Craig and wife Allison, Andrew Rains and wife Tisha, Hannah Coody, Natalie Coody and Makenzie Kesler. She also leaves six great-grandchildren, Walker Craig, Charlie Craig, Cullen Craig, Orion Rains, Tristen Rains and Lillie Rains.
