Mary Elizabeth Reed's Obituary
REED, MARY ELIZABETH was born January 21, 1921 in Cooper, Texas to William Edward Martin and Ina Pearl Martin. She passed away July 4, 2011 in Dallas,Texas. Mary and her family moved to Paris, Texas in her youth where she graduated from Paris High School in 1939. She then moved to Dallas to pursue a singing career. The young Mary Martin lived her dream in Dallas where she sang over WFAA with the Early Bird’s Program, KRLD with the Hyman Charnisky Orchestra, WRR with Ted Parrino, as well as several other orchestras during World War II. Once the war ended, she found her dream in Dale R. Reed Jr. the love of her life for 49 years. They had two children they were devoted to. Mary was a member of Gaston Oaks Baptist Church, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Dale, and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Lee Russell of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, Dale III and Barbara Reed of Prosper; ‘grandchildren, Lee Russell Jr., Lindsay Russell, Jason Reed and Ashley Reed; nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial service will be held at 12:30PM, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to service at Restland Funeral Home. If desired, memorials can be made to Wilshire Baptist Church Missions or the Dallas Foundation General Fund in Mary’s memory.
