Mary Jane Robottom's Obituary
Mary Jane Shaw Robottom passed away peacefully on September 14th 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born in Lancaster, Ohio in 1925 to Madge B. Shaw and Loren P. Shaw. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents and brother Col. Robert B. Shaw. Mary Jane graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts degree and began her career with Strouss’ department store in Youngstown, Ohio where she became a buyer for the store. Mary Jane married and was later divorced from John S. Robottom of Richardson, Texas. She is survived by five children: Elizabeth M. Hasse (Curtis) of Dallas, Texas; Jeremy Alice Veach (Jim) of Dallas, Texas; John L. Robottom (Jenny) of McKinney, Texas; Anderson S. Kelly (Dawna) of Magnolia, Texas and Sarah M. Reading (Bill) of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by Jeremy Veach’s daughter Clover E. Hariaczyi (Bill) of Frisco, Texas and their sons Ethan and Jacob. She is survived as well by Jeremy’s son Adam K. Sweeney of Richardson, Texas. Mary Jane is survived also by her niece Julie Doherty (Rick) of Dayton, Ohio and nephews Tom Shaw (Linda) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Steve Shaw (Kristin) of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mary Jane resumed her career first as an executive secretary with Terminal Freight Handling Company in Garland, Texas and later as a sales associate and Merchandising Assistant with JCPenney. She retired from JCPenney after 25 years of service in May of 2008. Mary Jane was a longtime contributor to several charities that were dear to her heart including Habitat for Humanity, the Union Gospel Mission of Dallas and the North Texas Food Bank. Mary Jane lived her life with strength, grace, servitude, courage and humor. Mary Jane will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched.
