Mary Russ' Obituary
Mary John Hawkins, born in Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was born to Jesse Lou Hawkins and Milton Leroy Hawkins, who instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family that she carried throughout her life.
Mary was widely known for her remarkable baking skills. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and comfort, where the scent of fresh sweets, cakes, pies, and cookies brought family and friends together. She took great pride in sharing her homemade treats, and her recipes became treasured favorites passed among loved ones.
She also had a deep love for flowers, finding joy and peace in their beauty. Whether tending to a garden or arranging blooms in her home, Mary’s appreciation for nature reflected her gentle and caring spirit.
Mary was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church since 1967, where she and her husband were active members. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life and a source of strength, comfort, and service to others.
Mary leaves behind her two daughters, Tammy and Lori; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, all of whom will continue to cherish her memory and the legacy of love she built through her family and traditions.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her generosity, her joyful spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcome—especially around her table.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love, recipes, faith, and memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
