Mary Lou Shewmaker's Obituary
Born in Dallas, Texas on August 19, 1918 and died in Dallas, Texas January 10, 2008. She graduated from North Dallas High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lou Belle and Albert Sidney Minter, her brother, Buford A. Minter Sr., her sister, Ruth Minter Brown and her beloved husband of 64 years, Everett (Bud) M. Shewmaker. She is survived by her son, Robert J. (Bob) Shewmaker (wife, Kathy)her granddaughter, Kristi Shewmaker Rush (husband Stephen) her grandson, John S. Shewmaker (wife, Kati) her great-grandson, Rylan J. Shewmaker, her sister, Jamie Minter Dill (husband, Lyndell), her niece, Linda Dill Mackie (husband, Neil), her niece, Dana Dill Hammond (husband, Vince), her nephew, William S. Minter (wife, Ellie) her nephew, Buford A. Minter Jr. (wife, Shirley), her niece, Lois Jane Minter Hoover, her niece, Donna Lea Lewis and many other relatives and friends. Before WWII she was in sales in the cosmetic department of Sanger Brothers in Dallas. During WWII she worked in Civilian Personnel at Peterson Army Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado and at the 8th US Army Air Force in Dallas Texas 5th Ferrying Command, Love Field. She was responsible for selling US War Bonds by Payroll deduction, 100% Department head Recruitment and Placement in civilian personnel of the 5th Ferrying command at Love Field. She was a longtime member of Lovers Lane Methodist Church and an active member of Sparkman Estates Community Club. In her earlier years she was active in PTA, Parent’s Band Club, Cub Scouts, Delegate to Dallas Garden Club, Dallas County Pharmaceutical Auxiliary Society. She was president of the Auxiliary of the Medical Service Representative Society of Dallas, Texas. Her love and devotion was her family and friends.
