Ms. Mary Jane Sutterfield's Obituary
A Celebration of Life service for Mary Jane Sutterfield, 84, of Murphy, TX will be Thursday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel of Restland Funeral Home in Dallas TX. Burial will follow on Friday, June 24, 10:00 a.m. at Hilltop Memorial Park located in Carrollton, TX. Mary Jane made her presence before the Lord on June 16, 2022, in Dallas, TX.
Mary Jane was born at home in Brownwood, TX on January 5, 1938, to the proud parents of John W. Hughes and Oneita Faye Hughes (Ferguson). She married William Henry Oliver on June 22, 1956, in Dallas and the two spent thirty-two happy years together until his passing in June of 1988.
After asking for her hand in marriage, Mary Jane married Odis R. Sutterfield, formerly of Richardson, TX, on February 23, 1991, whom she spent the rest of her life with, making their home in Richardson, TX before moving to Murphy, TX.
Mary Jane was an executive assistant at Aircraft Tooling, Inc. in Dallas for forty-five fulfilling years, working until her retirement at age 80. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking for family, hosting holiday events with family, playing games at the kitchen table with her grandkids, and attending as many grandkids’ sporting events as possible.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Odis; her son Kent Oliver and wife Rhonda of Mt. Grove ,MO; her son Kevin Oliver and wife Kelly of Plano, TX; her daughter Karla Maxwell and husband Dwane of Decatur, TX; her son Kyle Oliver and wife Kathleen of Allen, TX; her stepson Odie Sutterfield and wife Dana of Chandler, AZ; her stepdaughter Judi Gann and husband Ernie of Longview, TX; her stepdaughter Teresa Stephens and husband Shelby of Lubbock, TX; her sister Patsy Simmons and husband Paul of Garland, TX; her sister Cheryl Howell and husband David of Frisco, TX; her sister Teresa Fedor of Whitehouse, TX; her sister-in-law Carol Jean Williams of Santa Cruz, NM; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Together with Odis, Mary Jane had fourteen grandkids and seventeen great grandkids.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry; her parents, Oneita and John W. Hughes; her brother-in-law Patrick Fedor; her sister-in-law Ruby Guyton; her sister-in-law Lorene Clifton; her brother-in-law Wilburn Clifton; her brother-in-law Jerry Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in her name to Feed My Starving Children (www.fmsc.org), an organization she partnered with.
