Mary Catherine Templeton's Obituary
Mary Catherine (Chreene) Templeton, 93, of Mesquite, Texas, has passed in her home, in the company of her family on March 11th, 2025. One of five children, Mary was born at home to Willie Alonzo and Jessie Onita Chreene on December 6th, 1931. Growing up with her siblings, Murray, Charles, Larry, and Bety - her early years were spent working on her family farm where she helped with picking cotton, cutting sugar cane, digging potatoes, and helping her mother can foods and with chores around the home.
In February of 1951 Mary married the love of her life, Floyd Templeton. Together they shared fifty-seven years of marriage, their union was blessed with two children, Michael and Cathy.
In 1955 following Floyd's service in the United States Marine Corp the family moved to Mesquite, Texas - where they continued to raise their children, work, serve their community, and build the house of their dreams. Mary's rose bushes were a testament to her passion and care. She spent countless hours nurturing her roses, which bloomed beautifully under her attentive touch.
Their home, always warm and welcoming, was a reflection of their loving spirit and meticulous nature. Both from humble beginnings, their lives were filled with love for their family.
Beyond her personal life, Mary served the Mesquite Independent School District for thirty-one years before her retirement and will be remembered fondly by the many children who she worked for, and their children who now occupy the schools in which she served.
Mary's life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. She cherished every moment spent with her family, always putting their needs above her own. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and affection, where everyone felt welcomed and loved.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Templeton; her brothers, Muray, Charles, and Larry who are all laid to rest in Chreene Cemetery in Grand Cane; her sister, Bety, who is also laid to rest in Chreene Cemetery in Grand Cane; and her daughter, Cathy Roesler.
She is survived by her son, Michael Templeton; three brother's-in-law, Ronald Templeton, Lewis Templeton, and Bart Templeton; two grandchildren, Joshua Hill and Kaylyn Ramirez (and husband Ricardo); and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Ramirez and Alexia Hill.
A special and heartfelt appreciation is extended to Donna Fowler (Granddaughter-in-law) and Eva Pettitt for their devotion and care to Mary. Their assistance and dedication in making her comfortable at home gave her the grace she deserved and peace toward the end of her life.
Mary Templeton had requested a graveside service. In honor of her request, a graveside service will be held at Restland Funeral Home's Court of Holy Trinity at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025.
