Mary Ellen Todd's Obituary
Mary Ellen (Shaw) Todd, aged 90, went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2025, in McKinney, Texas. She was born on August 21, 1934, in Garland, Texas.
Mary was a strong and independent woman, a devoted servant of God, and a cherished family member. In her youth, she lived on a farm where she picked cotton and worked very hard at other household chores. She learned to cook and sew and used those skills to serve her family and friends making meals and making clothes and quilts. After getting married in 1952, she had four children, Elizabeth, Johnny, Bobby and Tommy. She worked as a telephone operator, a cashier at Safeway grocery store and at Texas Instruments where she held a position in quality control. She later retired and moved to the farm with her husband Donald where they lived for about 20 years. They sold the farm and moved back to Garland around 2005 and settled there.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald Todd; her son, Johnny Lee Todd; and her siblings, Ferman (Butch) Shaw, Frankie Newberry, Kathleen Houston, Johnny Shaw, Cecil Shaw, Dorothy Barnes, Sam Shaw, Bobby Shaw, Anne McMurray, Vene Holman, Jody Shaw, and Nancy Marie Shaw.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Eyler, Bobby Todd, and Tommy Todd; four grandsons; John Todd, Dustin Todd, Todd Eyler, and Tommy Todd II; two granddaughters, Mary Davis and Teri England; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM, at Restland Funeral Home in the Wildwood Chapel, located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Parkinsons Foundation.
