My name is Rodney Whaley, from Potts Camp,MS....in September of 1956 “Miss Sowell began her 1st year of teaching at the Potts Camp School and I was a 5 year old student in my first year of school. She loved us all and made sure that we all knew that she loved us ! I would almost always hear from her when she would visit in Holly Springs....I learned of her passing today...And my heart is heavy...I have shared this sad news with many of my classmates and will continue to contact those that I can ...for we all loved her...my email at work is rlwhaley@bankofhollysprings.com & I would welcome any words from her family & friends.

Leslie and family, and Lucky Jr. Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. We first met her in Corpus Christi in 1968 when sister Patsy and I had our Saturday afternoon trip to the laundry from her teaching location just south of San Antonio turn into a trip there to see them and Uncle Morris. We stayed with you and all ate at Uncle Morris'es and Aunt Jessie's - quail. Your Mom entertained us there.
