Mary Travis' Obituary
TRAVIS, MARY was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, loving wife, creative mentor to those who listened, source of semi-rational thought, delightful company, avid supporter of all those under her wing, and a close friend and confidant to her four sons. She usually had an opinion on most topics and could carry the conversation when needed. Her relationship with her husband, Carl was an inspiration to all around her because everyone knew at a glance that they were very much in love, soul mates who were only separated for a brief time after Carl passed away on Christmas Eve 2007. She is now reunited with the love of her life with endless days ahead of dining and dancing. They both enjoyed the American dream, could possibly be the poster children for it. They became the ultimate entertainers of customers and friends during their 40 years with G.E. that provided them with ample opportunities to travel the world and experience what few dream of. Mary was always by Carl’s side but always spoke her mind. They were a power couple, most certainly. She very much enjoyed her children and the conversations were never mundane. She also adored time with her nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl Travis, her sister, Jean Wortham, her mother, Lois Foster Bacon, her father, Garland Bacon. She leaves for another time her sister Joanne Bacon Payton; her four sons, Phillip Randall Travis, Douglas Kent Travis, Dale William Garland Travis, and Kevin Carlton Travis, three daughters in law, Cheri, Connie, and Vicki, her grandchildren Erik, Dylan, and Eben: and Morgan, Sage, Palmer, and Cole: and Lily and Gideon, and her six great grandchildren. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Restland Abbey Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave in Dallas.
