Mary Lee Truesdale's Obituary
Mary Lee Truesdale passed peacefully in her sleep on August 29th, 2023, at the age of 85 in the Grand Brook Memory Care of Allen. She had been suffering from late-on-set Alzheimer's for several years. She was lovingly cared for in her home for over three years after her diagnosis, by her husband, George, and her very dedicated caregiver, Edie Patterson.
Mary Lee was born in San Angelo on April 25,1938, with her identical twin sister. She and her sister were raised by her hard-working single-parent mother, Lucile Cowart. Her Aunt Martha and Uncle Grady Godwin of Eldorado, TX were also very important in her and her sister's young lives.
They lived in several Texas towns and eventually settled in Waco where Mary Lee met her future husband in high school. George and Mary Lee liked to say that after their first date in 1954 there was never anyone else for either of them. They dated for five years until they could see George's soon to be graduation from college. They were married on January 24, 1959, and began their wonderful life together.
After George's time in the Army, they settled in the Dallas Area, and started their family. They had two sons, Larry and Scott. Mary Lee made the very generous and much appreciated decision to dedicate her life to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, instead of pursuing a professional career outside the home. She never regretted this decision she had made for her family.
She was predeceased by her mother and her youngest son, Scott. Scott died at the young age of 39 from complications of epilepsy which he had since he was 6 years old. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George; son, Larry, and his wife Babita; grandsons, Garrett and Rohit; Sister, Jimmie Lou Stinson; and nieces, Karen Troeger and her husband Harry, Linda Garrison and her children Eve and Ella.
She was an accomplished crafter and enjoyed sewing, painting, and all kind of needle work. She was also a wonderful cook and liked entertaining family groups. Her volunteer work was always a priority, because she always wanted to help other people.
Mary Lee was always smiling and a pleasure to be with. She loved us with all her heart and made anyone with her feel better about themselves. Mary Lee and George always agreed, that except for losing their son, Scott, they could not have had a better life.
