Mary Helen Vargas' Obituary
Mary Helen Vargas, 68, of Garland, passed away June 7, 2015 in Carrolton, Texas. Rosary will be held at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX on June 12, 2015 at 7pm. Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richardson, TX on June 13, 2015 at 10:30am with Father James Wilcox officiating. Reception will immediately following the Mass. Mary Helen was born in San Antonio, TX to Guadalupe and Lucille Lopez on May 21, 1947. She went to high school at St. Francis Academy and graduated in 1965. She worked for 20+ years at Medical City Dallas Hospital as the Benefits Coordinator for Human Resources and Heart, Lung and Kidney Transplants. She moved to Dallas Independent School District where she worked for 25 years before retiring. Mary Helen is preceded to Heaven by her husband, Roger R Vargas, Sr. and her mother, Lucille Lopez. Mary Helen is survived by her father, Guadalupe Lopez Sr; her brother and sisters, Armando Lopez, Arnold Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez, Jr., Nelia Hemmer, Ferman Lopez, David Lopez, and Rebecca Ramirez; her children Renee Vargas-Herrin, Roxana Vargas-Hebert, Roger R Vargas Jr; her step children Robert Vargas and Sara Vargas; 7 grandchildren Amandine Lemonnier, Jude Hebert, Kayley Vargas, Caitlyn Herrin, Roger (Trey) R Vargas III, Camille Vargas, and Sydney Herrin. In addition to her countless nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Vitas Hospice for their support in hers final days. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
