Mary Hazel Wadsworth's Obituary
Hazel Wadsworth passed serenely into the loving arms of God on September 17, 2014 at 10:50 AM. She was born on October 21, 1922 in the country outside of Scranton, Texas to loving parents, Velma Anne and William Arthur Laster. She grew up in west Texas learning the value of hard work and Christian values. The fifth of nine children, Hazel is survived by her older sister, Anna Ruth Gillmore, younger sisters, Johnnie Lee Robertson and Evelyn Sliger, and a younger brother, Don Laster. She attended Business College in Dallas after graduation from Colorado City High School and worked at Railroad Express and Kraft Foods, Inc. where she was a bookkeeper. An active member of First Baptist Church in Dallas since 1940, she belonged to the Charis Class and was involved in many ministries, volunteering at homeless shelters, sharing the word of God at the Dallas Life Foundation, visiting those in need at homes, hospitals, and nursing homes. She was a faithful servant of God and many people owe their acceptance of Jesus to her caring witnessing. Hazel was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 43 years, Tracy L. Wadsworth Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Jessup and Pat Wright; her grandchildren, Michelle Jessup, Shannon Krueger and husband, Rodger, Jason Wright and partner, Petrissa, Terry Jessup Jr. and wife, LaToya and Josh Wright. Her great-grandchildren who were fortunate to have Gigi in their lives include, Madison Krueger, Makalah Jessup, Sebastian Krueger, Jagger Jessup, Raeghan Jessup, Ian Hindell-Wright, and Ivan Ncomo-Wright. The visitation for Mary Wadsworth will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The service for Mary Wadsworth will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association @ Alzfdn.org
