Mary Frances Walne's Obituary
Sweet Frances was embraced in the arms of Jesus April 4, 2008. She was born in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Frances was married to Herb for 35 years and joins him in heaven with her parents Robert and Pearl Henderson and her brother Robert, and sister Dorothy. Herb and Frances started their business in 1956 at Northway Highway and Easton in East Dallas and settled in the Lake Highlands community to help nurture and grow a new neighborhood that would come to bear fruit from their efforts. Their business grew from a Humble Oil service station to the Herb’s Paint and Body Shop group of collision repair centers in the Dallas area which are still owned and operated by her family. She enjoyed her involvement in the family business all though her life and really got a kick out of being the voice of Herb’s in their radio advertisements. She and Herb were involved in everything that was Lake Highlands but she truly enjoyed and cherished her Caribou Trail buddies, years of PTA at Lake Highlands Elementary, Junior High and High School and Wallace Elementary. Best of all was her role in Lake Highland’s Women’s League and the lasting friendships formed from serving the neighborhood. Frances served her church, St. John’s Episcopal , on the Alter Guild caring for all the special needs of that ministry. She was so loved by all she touched but especially her children Alan and wife Joni Walne, Lisa Thompson , and Andy and wife Sonia Fair. God blessed her with grandchildren Robert and wife Stephani, Sarah and husband Ryan Hefton , Katie Thompson, Andrew and wife Angie Fair , and Lauren Fair. A special blessing was brought with her great-grandson William Alan Hefton, with whom she spent a glorious day at the Dallas Arboretum just three weeks ago. She was a superb example to her family- that you are not here to be a spectator but here to do what God sent you to accomplish.
