Mary Baggett White's Obituary
Born September 9, 1919 in Houston, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away March 5 in Houston, TX. She graduated from Weatherford Junior College and went to work as a secretary in Houston, where she met her future husband, Joseph White. They lived in Texas and California as they raised their family. She worked in banking and insurance, but was first a homemaker. She has been a member of Highland Park United Methodist since her return to Dallas in 1989. Mary is preceded in death by her beloved Joe, her dear sister, Elizabeth Baggett, and her parents, Ben & Thea Baggett. She is survived by her children: Betty Rivers and husband Paul of Houston, Barry White and wife Jan of Moseley, Virginia, and Martha Shelton and husband John of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Mary is also survived by 9 wonderful grandchildren and 8 delightful great-grandchildren and much loved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank our cousin, Bunny Summerlin, for the care she provided in Mary’s final years. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to MetroCrest Social Services of Carrollton or a favorite charity. There will be an open visitation Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be 11:00AM, Monday, March 9, 2009 at Highland Park United Methodist Church in the Cox Chapel.
