Mary Louise Davis Williams' Obituary
Mary Louise Davis Williams, 97 years old, passed
away on November 6, 2019 after a short illness.
She was born in Peterboro, Madison County, New
York on November 15, 1921. She grew up there and
in Oneida, New York. Her parents were George W.
Davis, M.D. and Mabel Wagoner Davis, R.N.
Mary graduated from Oneida High School, attended
Holton Arms in Washington, D.C. and graduated from
Barnard College, Columbia University in New York
City in 1944 with a degree in American History. Later she was employed by the Brooklyn
Research Institute at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City and Evanston Hospital in
Chicago, Illinois before moving to Dallas, Texas in 1948.
While at Barnard College she met Clifford Kilborn Williams, graduate of University of Texas
School of Architecture, while he attended the Navy Officers School at Columbia University.
After Cliff returned from active duty in the South Pacific, they married on June 24, 1948 and
she moved to Dallas. Clifford was working as an architect for Charles Dahl in Dallas, Texas and
later he worked for the U.S. Government designing hospitals and schools in a 4 state area.
After her husband’s retirement, they had the opportunity to travel all over the world and
cherished the memories of those experiences. Winters were spent in their home in Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida on the New River. Mary and Cliff lived throughout their life together in the
family home, designed by Cliff and Mary continued to live independently in both her Dallas and
Florida homes after Cliff passed away in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clifford Kilborn Williams, architect of
Dallas, Texas and her younger sister, Elizabeth Davis Graf of Mexico City.
Mary continued through her mid-90’s to be active in her church, to give book reviews to her
various clubs and spend time with her children and their families. She was a member of
Northaven United Methodist Church, the Pierian Club of Dallas, the Barnard College Alumnae
for over 50 years, and active in the Highland Park Book Study and the Northaven Book Study
group.
She is survived by her son Scott Kilborn Williams (wife-Mary), daughter Brooke Davis Williams
Durland (husband-Eric), and son Todd Matteson Williams (wife-Monique), grand children
Kelley Williams Krupicka, Melissa Davis Williams, Garrett Wagoner Durland, Evan Reese
Durland and great grand-children Emma Marion Krupicka and James Lee Krupicka.
A Celebration of Life will be at Northaven United Methodist Church on January 11, 2020, 11am.
