Marybel Banister's Obituary
Marybel Banister, long time Dallas resident and widow of a well known minister passed away on June 10, 2007. She was a member of the Skiliman Church of Christ, where her late husband, John H. Banister, was minister from 1948 to 1971. She was born on January 27, 1914 in Utopia, Texas and attended the Sabinal High School and Texas Women’s University. A homemaker, she also owned and operated a 1200 acre cattle ranch near Utopia, where she was active in water conservation, brush clearing and fence building. She was preceded in death her brother, Elton Miller, and her sister, Inez Hillis, both of Utopia. She is survived by three children, William M. Banister of Dallas, Joan Thompson of Bandera, and John H. Banister Jr. of Ladonia, She is survived by eight grandchildren: Melissa Thompson of Houston; Emily Spiars of Round Rock; Bess Banister and Kara Kull of Dallas; Howard Thompson of Houston; Will Banister of St. Paul, Mn; Bethany Banister of Columbus, Oh; and Hannah Banister of Ladonia. She also had four great grandchildren.
