Matthew Earl Piper's Obituary
PIPER, MATTHEW EARL born 9/5/1966, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep early Sunday morning, 9/18/2011. He now sees his Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face. Matt is predeceased by his father, R.E. “Dick” Piper and his grandparents Ellihu and Catherine Inglet and E.M. Dick Piper and Clara “Pat” Piper. Matt is survived by his adoring and loving wife of 21 years, Ann Neely Piper and their two sons, Max Christopher Piper (12) and Patrick Graham Piper (11), his mother Carol Piper, brother Patrick Marcus Piper, sister Melissa Hood and husband Jack, nephews Richard and Michael Hood. He also leaves behind father-in-law Fred Neely and wife Judith, his mother-in-law Pamela Haltmeyer and husband Norm, sister-in-law Mitzi Meyers and husband Brad, sister-in-law Emily Pettit and husband Dennis, and nephew Noah Bolich. Matt is also survived by aunt Virginia Ann Piper, uncle Norman Inglet, and cousins Allison Riley-McCagg and Mark Riley. Matt grew up at First Baptist Church, Dallas, graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1985, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 890, where his son, Max is now active. He received his BBA from Baylor University in 1989. Matt has worked in commercial irrigation for many years with Weathermatic in Garland, TX. Matt accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and found joy and purpose in serving his Lord through various ministries at Watermark Community Church. A loving husband, father, son and brother, Matt shared the gospel through word, deed and service in every aspect of his life. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 21 at 1 pm at the Watermark Community Church Worship Center (7540 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway, Dallas, TX). Pallbearers are John Barker, Jr., Tim Bird, Mike Foster, Nat Klein, Mike Mason, Todd Newton and Hoyte Pyle III. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of Troop 890.
