Matthew Scott Jr.'s Obituary
Matthew Scott, Jr, of Fairview, TX, died peacefully on June 5, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Matthew was born in Spur, Texas on July 27, 1936. Matthew was the youngest of six children born to Matthew “Bud” Scott and Mary Scott (nee: Wilson). Matthew spent the latter part of his childhood in San Angelo, Texas and attended San Angelo Public Schools. Matthew began a 31-year career in the Navy after high school and achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. While stationed in Japan, Matthew met the love of his life, Takako Hamaoka. They were married on March 20, 1959 in Fukuoka, Japan. He was a Vietnam veteran. Preceding him in death are his parents, and siblings Vernon, Lillie, William, Opal Jean, and Hubert. Matthew is survived by his wife of 58 years, Takako Scott. He is also survived by his daughter Marian Hubbard and her husband John, of Fairview, Texas, grandson Alex Flewellen of Irving, Texas, bonus-granddaughters, Mariah Esquivel and Darah Hubbard of Crowley, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A celebration of his life is scheduled for July. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Amyloidosis Research Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
