Matthew Stephen Slay's Obituary
Matthew Stephen Slay was born at Harris Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX on December 21, 1971. After three days in the hospital he returned to Dallas with his parents Steve and Jere Slay, at which time he made Dallas his home for the majority of his life.He is survived by his wife Alicia of 21 years, beloved daughter Sydney, mother Jere L. Slay, brother Samuel Slay, sister-in-law Sarah Slay, cousin Steven Lindberg Jr., first cousin once removed Steven Cade Lindberg and his beloved cat Mystic.He was proceeded in death by his father Stephen H. Slay, his paternal grandparents Reed and Bess Slay, his maternal grandparents Paul and Ruth Lindberg, his wife’s parents Desmond and Doris Holmes and his beloved hunting dog Tundra.Matt attended The Mary Boswell School in Dallas, Saint Mark’s School of Texas and Texas A&M University in College Station, TX where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics. During his time at Texas A&M, Matt was a very active member of the Epsilon Eta chapter of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.Upon his return to Dallas in 1996, Matt chose a career in commercial real estate and property management; a career that he remained in until his recent passing.He was a member of the Calyx Club, The Rotary Club of Park Cities, The Lone Star Cougar Club of North Texas,Board Member of the National Cougar Club of America, Model T Ford Club of America, White Rock Lake Sail Boat Club, The Dallas Pistol Club, Pan Texas Club, Grand Prairie Gun Club and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.The Slay family would like to personally thank the excellent doctors and nurses working on the 15th floor of Parkland Memorial Hospital’s Critical Care Unit, for their outstanding and compassionate care.A Memorial Service to honor Matt will be held on Saturday, April 14th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at Saint Mark’s School of Texas, 10600 Preston Rd., Dallas, TX.
