Mattie H. Thomas' Obituary
Mattie H. Thomas peacefully passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on March 8, 1951, in Greenville, Mississippi, Mattie spent 71 wonderful years in her hometown before moving to Garland, Texas, where she lived for the last three years of her life.
Known for her kindness and warmth, Mattie touched the lives of everyone she met. As a devoted member of her church, she was a pillar of strength and love through her faith in Christ. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering support made her a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Mattie is survived by her loving children, Angela Denine Thomas and Carmenseda Evette Thomas, along with her grandchildren: Darryl Whitehead (Margarita Whitehead), Jasmine Thomas, Jacareya Thomas, and Jaylon Mitchell. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Jesenia Thomas, Jace Santacruz, Jazzelle Santacruz, Jozcelyn Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Malik Whitehead and Jaylene Thomas, and she leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Mamie Lee Hart and Douglas Young; her bonus mom, Mattie Ray Young; her mother-in-law, Margaret H. Thomas; and her brother, Charles "Sunny" Hart, along with her sister
Wendy Hart.
A celebration of Mattie's life will take place on December 13, 2025, at Agape Storge Christian Center in Greenville, MS. She will be deeply missed, and her legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
