Mattiene Arienne Moustakas' Obituary
Mattiene Arienne Moustakas died peacefully in Dallas, TX on October 20th, 2018 at the age of 77. She is survived by her two sons, Matthew James Aristides Moustakas of Argyle, TX and James Jeremiah Boothe Moustakas of Denton, TX, two sisters, Maria Moustakas in Port Townsend, WA and Vera (Wynne) Moustakas in Phoenix, AR, and her four grandchildren Syndey, Lucus, Quade, and Cole.Mattiene was born as Matthew Aristides Moustakas in Poughkeepsie, NY to Aristides Moustakas and Anastasia Poulimas on November 12, 1940. She was diagnosed with gender identity disorder and in 1993 she had male-to-female sex reassignment surgery and proudly transitioned to Mattiene Arienne.She graduated from Arlington High School and served in the United States Air Force before attending Syracuse University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree. She then attended Columbia University and graduated with a Masters of Art and Masters of Education degrees.Mattiene was an Industrial Designer and created games and product designs for many companies including Parker Brothers, Hallmark, Franklin Mint, Creative Play Things, and Freelance.Because of her career, she lived in various states around the country including New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Georgia, Nevada, and Texas.
