Mavis Bennett's Obituary
Mavis Bennett passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on February 22, 2014 at Juliette Fowler Communities. She was surrounded by the love of family, friends and wonderful people who had cared for her. Mavis was born on July 15, 1924 in Dodds City, Texas and she is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Paul Bennett, and by a grateful daughter, Paula Bennett. They watched over her for a long time but for decades before that — she had watched over them. Throughout her life Mavis had an unwavering faith and was a compassionate friend and later a loving wife and a mother who gave unconditional love to her daughter and to many others who she ‘adopted’ as her own. She would listen to anyone’s problems whether they were close friends or total strangers. During her 13 year struggle with Alzheimer’s, Mavis grew more loving every year. The word she said the most often was the one that mattered most: Love. She spoke it and lived it. By the time she passed away she had taught everyone who met her or cared for her that the power to give and receive love is absolutely indestructible. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Mavis, the family would like for donations to be made to Juliette Fowler Communities (Memory Care), 1234 Abrams Road, Dallas, Texas 75214. Thank you for praying for Mavis. She was and is our angel. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park. Her life will also be honored at a Celebration of Life Service at Juliette Fowler’s Schneider Chapel in the Pearl Nordan Building on March 10 at 4 pm.
