Mavis Evelyn Williams' Obituary
Our Lord and Savior called Mrs. Mavis Evelyn Williams home on November 7, 2014 for her complete rest. Mavis E. Williams accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at Northlake Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Mavis E. Williams was born on January 16, 1921, to parents Mr. David McKay and Mrs. Rebecca Hamlet of Transquility Hall Mahaica, Guyana. She was the third of five children. She attended Mahaica Scott School and graduated in 1939. She married the love of her life, Herbert Fitzgerald Williams in January 1946. Together they had eight children. She later moved to Dallas, Texas in 1987. Mavis was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother who led a blessed and full life. She was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker. Mavis is preceded in death by her parents, David McKay & Rebecca Hamlet; husband, Herbert Williams; siblings, Bertram McKay, Icyl Gravesande, Olive Stewart, Vibert McKay; and sons, David Williams, Malcolm Williams, Herbert Williams. She leaves her legacy of four daughters and one son, Doreen (Willie) Hoggard; Hazel (John) Griffith; Pomille Williams; Clairmonte (Kim) Williams and Cheryl Williams. Mavis’s legacy continues with 30 grandchildren, Roslyn James, Willis (Marshall) Barnes, Noel Williams Jr., Haile (Camesha) Williams Jr., Jennifer Hoggard, Scarlet (Correy) Harris, Crystal Williams, Asantie Williams, LaToya (Shawn) Sukhnandan, Alexis Williams 42 great-grandchildren, Haile Williams Jr., Destini Alvarado, Jasmine Harris, Correy Harris, Jr., Jaidyn Harris, Nuriyyih Belle, and one great-great grandchild, Lovern Laurie. Her Legacy Lives On, Now and Forever The visitation for Mavis will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mavis will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Northlake Baptist Church10110 McCree, Dallas, Texas.
