Mr. Max Gaynor Ashby's Obituary
Max G. Ashby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Max passed away on January 14, 2024 at the age of 87 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
He was born to Billie and Bill Ashby on June 19, 1936. After graduating from high school , Max pursued his ambition in the field of aviation at the University of Texas in Arlington. Prior to graduating he enlisted in the US Air Force where he proudly served his country and was honorably discharged in 1962. In 1963, he began his 40 year career with Teledyne Geotech in the field of seismology. Shortly after he started with Geotech he met his wife of 60 years, Beverly Ashby (Poorbaugh). Together they had two children: Lori and Jill.
Max is survived by his wife Beverly: Daughters Lori Prince, Lantana, TX, and Jill Barretto married to Bryan Barretto, Allen, TX., Grandchildren Nicolas Barretto engaged to Savannah Baldwin, Denton, TX, and Natalie Barretto, College Station, TX, Sister-in-law Lorene Ashby, Sachse, TX. He also has numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold Ashby. He is a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where he ushered for many years.
Whether it was fishing or hunting, Max loved the outdoors and passed his love to his girls and his grandchildren. He was a selfless provider who focused on his family until the very end. His kindness and caring of others was extended to friends and neighbors over the years. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the V Foundation for Cancer Research in his honor at www.v.org/donate or St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
