Max Byron Benham's Obituary
Max Byron Benham was promoted to Glory on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Christian Care Senior Living Center in Mesquite, TX. He was born in Breckenridge, TX, on October 10, 1931, to Frances and Clarence Benham, the fourth of twelve children. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gwen Landa and Bertha Choi; brother, Bernard Benham and grandson Brandon Houston. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Edith Benham, brother, Dean Benham; sisters Roberta Bannister, Frances Benham, Patsy Benham, Flora Benham, Sarah Farr and Elizabeth O’Dell; daughters, Brenda Rhodes, Shirley Benham, Laura Cousar and Carolyn Buckhout; and 6 grandchildren. After serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps, he earned his living as a marble mason, served faithfully in his churches and repaired cars for family and friends. His great joy in his retirement years was doing mission work with “God’s Old Geezers” at First United Methodist Church of Garland. Viewing will start 30 minutes prior to the Service at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at The First United Methodist Church, Garland. 801 West Avenue B., Garland, TX 75040. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, Garland, for “God’s Old Geezers” missions team.
