Maxine Ernestine Kastner Ferguson's Obituary
Ferguson, Maxine Ernestine Kastner ~ Was born in Wamego, Kansas on April 20, 1925, to Marion and Emma Kastner. She grew up on the family’s farm near Westmoreland, Kansas. In 1945 she moved to Topeka, Kansas. On March 7, 1946, she married Thomas Ferguson. As children they had lived on neighboring farms. At the time of their marriage he had recently returned from military service. In the early years of their marriage they lived in Topeka, Kansas. Later, they lived in Big Spring, Texas, Birmingham, Alabama and Bath, New York. They moved to Dallas, Texas in 1955 and made their home in the Oak Cliff and Lake Highlands communities. Since 2005, Maxine and Thomas have resided at C. C. Young Memorial Home, where Maxine’s death occurred on February 12, 2011. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Norma and Donald. She is survived by her husband, as son, Stanley Ferguson of Dallas; daughter, Lauri Darlington and her husband Jeffery, of Corinth, Texas; grandchildren, Cheyanne and Seth; brother Charles of Topeka, Kansas; sister, Myrna of Arusha, Africa, and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Maxine can be honored with contributions to Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 551389, Dallas, Texas 75355, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
