M.D. Meeks' Obituary
M D Meeks was born September 17, 1925 in Terrell, Texas to Macdonald D and Lula Meeks. He grew up in Terrell, Texas working with his father and brothers to work the fields until he was of age to enlist in the military. M D and his brother enlisted in the Marine Corps and immediately after boot camp they were shipped to the South Pacific into active duty in Japan and China. M D served as an experienced gunner and marksman until the conclusion of World War II. He returned home after the war with an honorable discharge as a Sergeant and Marksman. M D worked as an engineer for air conditioning and heating in several high rise office buildings in the Dallas area. M D had a great love for country music, he enjoyed playing and singing. He played in several bands throughout his lifetime and also managed bands for many years. M D loved a great hamburger, spending time with family and listening to classic country music. M D is survived by his five children, son Mike Meeks and wife Debbie, daughter Virginia Thomason and husband Tommy, son Darrell Meeks and wife Diane, son Gary “Bee” Meeks and wife Sue and daughter Nancy Meeks; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Father, brothers and sisters as well as the mother of his children Mary Meeks. There will be a brief graveside service at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX July 12, 2016 at 9:30AM. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you make a donation in honor of M D to The American Stroke Foundation at www.americanstroke.org or the Wounded Warrior Project at www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
