Meilan Li's Obituary
Mei Lan Li was loved very much by her family and friends, and her passing on April 22, 2020, is a date which will forever bring sadness to them. She was a very warm and loving person, dedicated to her craft of tailoring and equally devoted to her family and friends.
Mei Lan was born in Hong Kong on September 4, 1960. She began her study and practice of tailoring while still in high school. At the time of her passing, she had achieved a level and notoriety that few tailors have achieved. She performed small tailoring miracles on a regular basis for her day-to-day customers. In addition, she completed work that was worn by the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, was worn by high-level beauty pageant winners, and most recently, was worn by Jennifer Lopez at the Super Bowl in 2020.
She enjoyed eating delicious food, watching late night shows on a local Vietnamese television channel (even though she understood not a single word), and spending quality time with friends and family.
Mei Lan sacrificed much for her husband and daughter and helped her friends with getting their young children on a solid path, both educationally and morally. Her values served as a bright beacon for all those who came to know her.
She fought a brave battle against cancer, and her courage during that fight was an inspiration that her family and friends will no doubt aspire to for as long as they live.
If the measure of a person can be made by the number of tears shed when they pass, then Mei Lan Li was as fine a person as has ever walked the Earth.
Mei Lan will be incredibly missed and survived by her husband, John Robottom, her daughter, Stephanie Tsang, many relatives in Hong Kong, and the following relatives in the U.S.:
Katherine Lee (sister)
Mikey Lam (brother-in-law)
Chris Lam (nephew)
Brian Lam (nephew)
