Melodia Damaso's Obituary
Melodia Damaso,97, of Garland, Texas took her last breath at 2:44 am and pronounced by the Hospice nurse at 4:18 am on September 9,2025 at Advanced Health and Rehabilitation in Garland, Texas.
She was born in December 12,1927 to Miguel Mosqueda Antig and Matilde Galvez Antig in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. She married Antonio Gelacio Damaso in June 5,1954 in Cebu City Philippines.
She was fondly called “Ludy” or “Mama Melody “. She was a Retired Elementary School Teacher, finishing her Masters in Elementary Education in the Philippines.
Although her husband Tony who was an Aeronautical Engineer, earned very well,
she helped in getting all her 6 children through college aside from teaching, she was very active in Real Estate in Cebu city.
She and her husband immigrated to Dallas, Texas in 1985. She was a very devout wife and Catholic and had instilled this in her children and good values of life. She was an Active Lay Member of the Carmelites Sister Order in Cebu City Philippines.
She and her husband Tony, loved to dance and is a very people person as she has a closely knit group of friends in the Philippines and here in the United States.
Gardening was her passion and has different collections of plants in her garden.
She loved traveling and visiting different places. She specifically loved Hawaii where she had a lot of relatives there and daughter Loida lives there too. She was an active member of the Santo Nino group in Garland, Texas and loved to attend all the church functions.
She is preceded in death by her Siblings: Roberto Antig, Antonina Getubig, and Amparo Corro.
She is survived by one sister: Rosario Almero of Lapulapu, Philippines; daughters: Lita Damaso of Las Vegas, NV; Evelyn Atis of Garland, Texas; Arlene Satterfield of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Ana Loida Dumlao of Ewa Beach, Hawaii Divina Heyne of Euless, Texas; And Daughter in law Herminia Damaso. Sons: Romeo Damaso of Santa Clara, California; Apolo Damaso of Garland, Texas; and Marco Damaso of Garland, Texas. Sons in law: Paul Luis, Reynaldo Atis, Willie Alf Satterfield, Freddie Dumlao, and Timothy Heyne. She had 11 Grandchildren: Marie Grace, Precious “Peachy”, Ric Anthony, Erick, Jethro (deceased), Eric Glenn, Rachel, Joshua, Kristine, Alf Zachary and Clay Anthony and 4 granddaughters in law Wendy, Mary Ann Edith and Lizzie. She had 2 grandsons in law Dustin and Jonathan, 14 great grandchildren: Francis, Jocelyn, Nora, Adeline, Tahtiana, Kyriana, Journey, Mazie, Keanu, Ezra, Damani, Rianne, Jazmin and, Zyler. She had 4 great, great grandchildren: Xyavian, Xyavia, Ruby, Yeziah, and Alan.
