Melody Lee Williamson's Obituary
WILLIAMSON, MELODY LEE was born the daughter of Sharon Lee Shanklin and James Wilburn Doherty on June 19, 1966 in Texas. Her father, Wilburn, passed away when she was nine months old. When she was six years old, her mother married Gregory Wilson, who loved and raised Melody like his own daughter. Melody attended Garland High School, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the a-cappella choir, and an honors student. Melody competed in many beauty pageants during her teen years and won many titles, including Miss Texas Teen. She graduated from Garland High School in 1984 and soon left for Baylor University where she majored in business and marketing. At freshman orientation, she met her first husband and the father of her children, Roger Williamson. Melody and Roger married in 1986 and had three children together, Savannah Lee, Forrest Christian, and Hunter Jeffrey. Their youngest son, Hunter Jeffrey Williamson passed in 1990 and precedes her in death. Melody and Roger divorced in 1995, after which she continued to raise her children in Plano, Texas. Melody owned and operated an advertising magazine for local businesses in the Plano-Frisco area. Meanwhile, she was always heavily active in her children’s extracurricular events, from PTA, soccer, football, and softball, JROTC, and band boosters. She lived in Plano for twenty-two years and was also involved in her homeowners association and neighborhood planning. Melody was always the life of the party and a joy to everyone she met. She enjoyed volunteering and fundraising, working in the daycare at Prestonwood Baptist Church, and spending time with her dear friends and family. She is survived by her two children, Savannah Lee and Forrest Christian Williamson; her mother, Sharon Lee Wilson; her brothers, Jeffrey Jay Johnson and Eric Gregory Wilson; her sister, Terry Lynn Nilson, and their families; her great-aunt, Lillian Montgomery; aunts, Cindy Ware, Jennifer Doherty, Evelyn Cookie Pierce, and Barbara Doherty; her Uncles, Robert Shanklin, Logan Ware, and Earl Doherty; Melody is also survived by many cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. The funeral service for Melody Lee Williamson will be held at Prestonwood Baptist Church, in Plano, Texas, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Following the service, Melody will be interred at Restland Funeral Home at 2:00 PM after a graveside service.
