Melva Jean Moon Meador's Obituary
MEADOR, MELVA JEAN MOON loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2014 in Austin, Texas. She was born to Carson and Maybell Gotcher on June 8, 1925 in Prosper, Texas. She was a long-time member of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church and was actively involved in the Friendship Sunday School class for over 40 years. Her passion was her family and she was happiest at family get-togethers with her children and their spouses, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and sisters. She was always proud of her kids and remained actively involved in their lives, offering her love and support, for her entire life. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Maybell; her sister, Dorothy; her first husband of 40 years, Marion Moon; and her second husband of 24 years, Norman Meador. She is survived by her sister, Mildred; her 4 children: Jeanette Bouse, Jeannine Shutt, James Moon and Thomas Moon; stepson, Scott Meador; 7 grandchildren: Chandra Mosley, Jamie Athanasion, James Moon, Catie Moon, Michael Shutt, Allyson Shutt, Austin Bouse, and Lianna Meador; and 4 great-grandchildren: Brandy, Maggie, Alayna, and James. Jean’s family will receive friends on March 14, 2014 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on March 15, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Restland Abbey Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that guests make memorials to the charity of their choice in honor of Jean.
