Melvin Allison's Obituary
Melvin Howard Allison, of Denison/Pottsboro, Texas (formerly of Dallas, Texas) passed away on Saturday, April 16th 2016 at 11:30 p.m. surrounded by his loving family. The viewing and family time will be held on Tuesday April 19th, 2016 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery in Dallas Texas. A celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday April 20th, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Abbey Chapel, located on Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery at 13005 Greenville Ave Dallas, TX 75243. Melvin was born on April 23rd, 1932 in Tulsa, OK to Robert Edward Allison and Josephine Crabtree Allison. He moved to Dallas, TX in 1935, where he grew up and met his wife Martha Ruth Aldridge in October of 1950. They were married on March 30th, 1951. They lived, worked and raised a family in Dallas, TX. In 1990, Melvin, Martha, their daughter Cathy and Son-In-Law Michael Ahern bought the “Funny Farm” in Denison, TX. It was here he became known as “Pawpaw” to everyone that knew him in Grayson County. His kind, loving and candid humor will be deeply missed as we all remember his final words “Sure glad you got to see me”. Melvin leaves behind his beloved wife Martha Ruth Allison, daughter Ellen Cathleen Allison, son Melvin Howard Allison, Jr., daughter-in-law Cheryl Jean Allison, granddaughter Elizabeth Anne Ahern, grandson’s Sean Allison Ahern, Jacob Howard Allison, Thomas Edward Allison, great grandchildren Jayden Elaine Allison and Harvey Benjamin Ahern, Sister Lou Ellen Spencer and sister-in-law Dorthy Dyane Davis. Nieces: Della Jo Pesta, Lark Allison, Lou Gena Hunter, Suzanne Hill. Nephews: Clark Spencer and Mike Spencer, plus many more nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Melvin was preceded in death by Robert Edward Allison Sr., Josephine Crabtree Allison, Pauline “Susie” Allison, Robert Edward Allison Jr., Jackie Allison, Robert Edward Allison III, Ralph Spencer and Andy Pesta. In lieu of Flowers make contributions to Scottish Rite Hospital and/or the charity of your choice. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 3:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
