Both Neal and I met Melvin and Zo through Volunteer Christian Builders and they were the sweetest couple, so fun to be around and they loved being a part of the team. Both worked so hard and enjoyed working for the Lord.
I can say Melvin was greeted at the Pearly Gates and told "well done good servant" as many of the other VCBuilder Heros that are there to welcome him home also.
Many prayers to Zo as she misses her dear Melvin and God bless her always.

My sincere condolences to the family. I met Mr.Blankenship in 2004, I was 14 and starting HS when my family moved to Carrollton and became neighbors. He would tell me stories whenever we had a chance to talk and he could go on forever. He was kind to my family and I, we will never forget it. He will be forever in our hearts, may you rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to Melvin’s family.
I taught with Melvin at R.L. Tuner High School. He took such good care of three of my cars during those years. He watched over his students to make sure they were doing repairs accurately. After he retired from teaching, I would call him if I were purchasing a new car to get his advice. He reminded me a lot of my dad, with his ability to repair things, his honesty and his attention to detail. Years later, I often ran into him while grocery shopping at our local Albertson’s. We would pull our carts to the side and chat about what was going on in our lives. A few years ago, I remember him talking about climbing a ladder at work, and I cautioned him about that. He did not let age slow him down. He had a fabulous work ethic and enjoyed staying busy. It was always a pleasure to see him at our C-FB RSPA meetings.
I will miss him.
