Melvin and I were schoolmates for seven years in the Hoyt School System where he was one year ahead of me in school. He and I shared a common interest in sports. We were both sports nuts. However, he was a KU fan while I was a K State fan! Melvin was a great guy, well-liked by all who knew him. We were all disappointed when he was unable to attend his 50th class reunion. My name is Lloyd Richards and I was a classmate of Melvin's at Hoyt High School. He and I worked together one summer helping his dad build houses in Topeka. We lost contact with Melvin when he could not attend the 50th reunion. There are several of us that went to high school with him that will want to send our condolences to his family. I have a lot of great memories about the things we did together in high school. There are only four of us left now.
