Mercedes Duarte Matta's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved mother and grandmother, Mercedes Duarte Matta, on February 8th, 2025. Born to Manuel and Lina Duarte on September 7th, 1934, she was a beacon of faith, generosity, and love throughout her life.
Mercy married the love of her life, Fred S. Matta, in 1949. Their union was blessed with five children; Freddy, Mary Ann, Dennis, Sylvia, and Ricky - who were the pride and joy of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family first and ensuring they were surrounded by love and care.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a dedicated member of her local parish, where she spent countless hours in prayer and service. Her generosity knew no bounds; she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying the true spirit of Christian charity.
Mercy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her kind and giving nature, and her deep love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Mercy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred S. Matta; and her son, Freddy D. Matta.
She is survived by her children; Mary Ann Gonzales, Dennis Duarte Matta, Sylvia Fregia, Ricky Duarte Matta; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
A Visitation will be held on February 13th, 2025 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home
Rosary Prayers will take place following visitation, starting at 5 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home
A Funeral Mass will be held on February 14th, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church with graveside services following.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Rosary Prayers will take place following visitation.
A Funeral Mass will be held on February 14th, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
Graveside Committal services will follow the Funeral Mass.
