Meredith Wood's Obituary
WOOD, MEREDITH Born January 18, 1973 in Dallas, TX and passed away January 9, 2008 in Austin, TX, her favorite city, after a long painful struggle with Bowel Disease and it’s complications. She received a degree in Sociology from The University of Texas. The Sociology Department was for her a small, caring oasis in the midst of the huge university. In Dallas she attended Ursuline Academy, Zion Lutheran School, and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal School. Meredith is survived by parents, Marcus and Patricia Wood; fianc’, Colton Shaver; uncles, aunts, and cousins, John, Janet, Alex, and Kate Eickmeyer, George, Shirley, Nathan, Martin, and Nolan Boyd and their spouses and families; special friends, Amy, Bob, Chris, Cori, Jacob, Paul, Peter, Tonatzine and Whitney; her birth family; and a menagerie of pets. Durene Davis was her loving caretaker for her entire life. John Mangione, MD and a host of other medical caregivers fought gallantly for her life from beginning to end. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday January 15, 2008 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas for family and friends, followed by a memorial service and reception at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas with Dr. Joe Clifford officiating. Church garage parking is located at Young St. and Park Ave. in downtown Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, 12801 N. Central Expwy., Suite 270, Dallas, TX 75243 or to The Seton Fund (Seton Medical Center), 1201 W. 38th St., Austin, TX 78705. Meredith’s powers of observation now have more glorious vistas to behold. God’s Peace to Meredith, and all of God’s people say ‘Amen’.
