Merle Montgomery's Obituary
Montgomery, Merle, age 83, of Allen, Texas passed away peacefully on 12/7/2011 at Mustang Creek. She was born on 1/2/1928 in Pattonville, Texas to her parents, William Homer and Mabel Clara Moore. Merle was the 3rd of 4children. She married John Harvey in Oak Cliff, TX on 07/20/1947. They had 2 children. She attended Deport High School and graduated in 1945. She was a longtime resident of Garland, Texas for 54 years and was self employed as a Interior Designer for 22 years. Merle was a member of First United Methodist Church of Garland, TX. She enjoyed Sequence, Garland Book Review Club, Bible and book studies, volunteer of 20 years of Garland Memorial/Baylor Hospital Auxiliary, Garland Women’s Activity Council, church choir, church Young Adult Sponsors, Couple’s Sunday School Class, and extensive national and international travel. Merle will be remembered by her loving husband and their children, daughter and son-in-law Rebecca Montgomery and Ronald Smith of Tyler, TX; and son and daughter-in-law John and Kathryn Montgomery of Columbia, MO. She is also survived by Grandchildren Neal and Sherlyn Smith and their sons Garrett and Gage; Ashley (Smith) and Kyle Hargett and their sons Kreed, Brigg, Cullen; Courtney (Smith) and Ryan Kidwell and their daughter Austyn and son Connor; Whitney (Smith) and Chad Riedel; Lindsey (Smith) and Andrew Pfaff; Aaron and Lisa Montgomeryand their son Macin; Sarah (Montgomery) and Tom Giessmann; and Ryan Montgomery; sister Mildred Henson, brother- and sister-in-law Don and Margie Montgomery, brother-in-law James Barrett; and numerous nephews and nieces.. Predeceased in death by Parents Homer and Mabel Moore, brother Billy Moore, sister Nancy Barrett, brother-in-law Truitt Henson, sister-in-law Margaret Moore, sister-in-law Janell (Montgomery) Averitt. Relatives and friends are invited to a service of remembrance for Merle at 3pm on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to United Methodist Church of Garland.
