Merna Lou Peterson's Obituary
Merna Lou Miller was born on October 26, 1939, in the sand hills of northeast Nebraska, the 3rd child born to Carl and Juanita Miller. She entered public school at age 4 and graduated high school from Central Christian Academy of McPherson, Kansas. She was married to Carroll Peterson in 1958 and served with him for 16 years as pastor. There was born to this union three daughters: Lynette, Valerie, and Anita.
Merna was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, a great hostess, and an excellent housekeeper and cook. She accepted various areas of responsibility in the church willingly and excelled in each of them and faithfully supported Carroll in pastoral and music ministries.
Merna worked for The Salvation Army Texas Divisional Headquarters for 20 years until retirement.
Merna was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leslie, sister Maritta, and brother Leonard. She is survived by her husband Carroll, daughter Lynette Gay Overall (Dean), Valerie Ann Dake (Steven), Anita Fay Woolsey (Kevin), grandchildren Sarah Overall, Stephanie Overall, Jared Dake, Thomas Dake, and Chris Dake, and her youngest sibling Robert Miller.
Her loves were Christ, husband, family, and the church, and she was adored by a large host of friends.
Merna went to be with the Lord at age 84, on July 9, 2024.
