Meryle (Sunny) Adell Patton's Obituary
Sunny Patton, 98, of Trophy Club, Texas passed away peacefully on October 27, 2018 at Baylor Hospital Grapevine. Sunny was born to Raymond and Frances Winfield in Alameda, California on October 21, 1920, and was a graduate of the College of Marin in Kentfield, CA. During WWII Sunny was a secretary at the Marin Shipyards and later became an Aircraft Communicator at Oakland Airport.After the war, she served as an auditor in the US Army Audit Division and was stationed on Okinawa, Japan. While in Okinawa, Sunny met R.O. (Roe) Evans whom she married in Manila in 1947. After returning to the States, Sunny and Roe made Charlotte, N.C. their new home. While in Charlotte, Sunny and Roe became the proud parents of two daughters and a son and were active in civic affairs. Sunny also discovered the game of golf – which became a life-long passion.In 1970 the family relocated to Dallas, TX where Sunny enjoyed playing golf on the many courses throughout the area and was an active member of the Ladies Golf Association. She also found time to become a successful real estate agent and broker with Holcomb / Ebby Halliday Real Estate. In 1983 Sunny and Roe moved to Trophy Club, TX where they lived until Roe’s death in 1988.In May of 1991 Sunny married Norman A. Patton, also of Trophy Club, and a fellow golfer. For the next 27 years, Sunny and Norm were regulars on the courses of Trophy Club and enjoyed a weekly bridge game with friends. Sundays always found them in their pew at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club where they were faithful members. Avid travelers, Sunny and Norm divided their time between golfing excursions in Florida, visiting extended family in Massachusetts and California, and enjoying yearly trips to Jamaica.Sunny was predeceased by her parents, brother Starring, sister Joyce, husband of 41 years R.O. Evans, and husband of 27 years, Norm Patton. She is survived by her daughter Darla Evans of Trophy Club, TX, son Scott Evans and his wife Rosana of Grapevine, TX, daughter Colleen Davis and her husband Dan of Sacramento, California; step-children Kathleen Treasure and her husband Dave of Westerville, Ohio, son Scott Patton and his wife Nora of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at Fellowship United Methodist Church in Trophy Club at 11:00 on Tuesday, Oct. 30.MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Sunny’s name be made to Metroport Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 204, 428 N Hwy 377, Roanoke, TX 76262.
