Michael George Adkisson's Obituary
Michael George Adkisson, 65 of Plano, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 7, 2021, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on March 19th, 1955 to Mark Edward and Esta Jeane in Houston, TX. After graduating from North Garland High School, he went to Eastfield College, then proceeded to the University of Texas in Arlington where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Marketing.
Michael George was survived by his caring wife, Ester Salvador and loving son, Michael Salvador, his Mom, Esta Adkisson Basye, his brothers, Stephen and wife Marlene, Christopher and wife Kelly. His nieces, Brandy and husband David, and Amy. His nephews, Mark and Aaron. His grandnephews, Oliver, Leo and Ezra. He was preceded by his father, Mark.
Mike as everyone calls him, has a brilliant mind, loves art, writing, movies and science fiction. He was the founder, owner, editor and publisher of the science fiction magazine, New Pathways. The magazine got published from March 1986 to Winter of 1992. Being an artist himself, he provided much of the magazine’s artwork in the early issues.
He worked for companies like Raytheon, Dwights’ Energydata (now IHS Markit), OpenConnect, S2 System and Unifocus to name a few. In these companies, he was a technical and marketing writer. He also wrote and developed online and printed brochures, press releases, technical specifications, executive speeches, and corporate website content.
Mike will be missed by his family, friends, and all who have known him and being a Star Wars fan, we’ll miss him saying “May the force be with you.”
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30PM on February 27th at the Memorial Chapel of Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
