Michael Lee Beard's Obituary
Michael Lee Beard passed away peacefully January 31, 2018, one day before his 69th birthday.Michael was the eldest of four siblings, born February 1, 1949, to Charlie and Jean Perryman Beard..Mike lived with his paternal grandparents his sophomore year and helped with their business and farm. He moved back to Dallas and attended W. W. Samuell his junior and senior year, and graduated 1967. Mike still maintains friendships with many of his former classmates.Following graduation Mike enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp with four others. While he rarely spoke of his tour in Vietnam, he was proud to have served his country as a Marine.Mike loved life, single malt scotch, golf, his job and his family. None took precedence over the other.He enjoyed his profession as a general superintendent, lastly with Gordon Highlander. He had a great eye for detail. He helped on projects building several local restaurants and commercial lease spaces. Mike loved dining at the restaurants he built and sharing the experience with his friends and family.Mike was a people person. He loved talking to people he knew and making friends with those he didn’t know. He was a great conversationalist of many, many topics…. except politics!!!!!He had an infectious smile and laugh and made everyone around him enjoy the mood and laughter.His greatest ally was his sister, Patricia Estes, who he called “Patsy”. They were great travelling partners and visited several countries. Mike loved playing golf in Scotland, Cabo San Lucas, Angel Fire and Taos. Actually, he liked to have a drink in Angel Fire and play Golf in Taos.Mike was a wonderful friend to his family and a host of others. We all love him very much and he will leave a large hole in our hearts. Hopefully, he is playing Golf with Jay, Leland and Buddy. Great friends and wonderful golf buddies.Mike is survived by his mother, Jean Beard; daughter Kristi Hunt and husband Bill, grandchildren Cole and Taylor; sister Patricia Estes, brothers Keith and wife Brenda, Davie and wife Tina. He has several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Restland Abbey Chapel. The interment will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 9:00 AM at DFW National Cemetery.
