I knew Michael as "Polychromic Dragon" on the UDIC newsgroup. I'm really going to miss him. He was always helpful and we had a lot of good back-and-forth discussion on a huge variety of topics. What a neat person. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. — Lost Dragon
I knew Michael as Polychromic Dragon of the UDIC. I always thought that he'd be one of those still hanging about, stubborn and immutable and ever-entertaining, when the janitors of the internet came around to turn off the lights and the last message was posted to rec.games.computer.ultima.dragons. Therefore, it was a shock to revisit the group, only to find him gone. Know that I share in your loss, as do many others–in his wake, all manner of long-absent friends have appeared to pay their respects. We are diminished, yet I never knew before just how many of us were still around. And perhaps that's his final gift to us–a reason for gathering, for reminiscing, for renewing bonds grown strained and thin with the passage of heavy years. Thanks for everything, Poly.
Your whole family is in our thoughts and prayers. We have been very worried about how you all could get through the last few days. "Cast your cares on Jesus, for He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 We will continue praying for you all.
I and my late wife were online friends of Michael (aka Polychromatic). We used to share many emails with Michael and our small group of friends. Rest in peace. You will be missed. Edward & Glenys (decd) Franks (aka, Fortran and Disorented Dragon)
We are actually in Ontario, Canada. We are going to miss Michael (Poly) so much. Our love and condolences to the family, we were blessed to have cyber-known Michael. From Unicorn Dragon and Soup Dragon
Bob and Ellen, I'm a friend of Eva & Martinand wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you and your family during this tragic shock. Take good care of yourselves and keep all those who love you close to your hearts. Sue
Like some others, I forged a friendship with Mike though gaming. He was a man that easy to talk to, eager to listen, and always willing to help others before himself. He will most definitely be missed by all the lives he touched. Deep Christian sympathy and regret to all his friends and family. Blessings, Chris "Toph" Johnson -Romans 8:38-39
I also know Michael as "Polychromix Dragon" on the Ultima Dragons newsgroup. My memories of him revolve around his willingness to provide help and advice mixed in with plenty of good-natured back and forth. In recent years, even after I'd mostly dropped away from posting, I knew I could drop in at any time and see Poly there trading jokes and dispensing free technical advice–a constant, dependable presence. He will be missed. My heart goes out to his family for their loss.
Hello, this is Claus, another Ultima Dragon. I met Michael, or Poly, as he was known to us (as well), online in around 1997. He has been a part of my life since then. We used to talk about many things, sometimes discussing harshly, not really seeing eye to eye on a few topics, but he was always kind. If you asked him for help, we would try to help you, always. I will remember him as a kind person whom I regretfully never met in the real world.
