Michael Lewis Dunson's Obituary
Michael Lewis Dunson passed away on March 4, 2019 in Dallas, TX. Michael was born on October 29, 1952 to Lewis and Dean Dunson in New Orleans, LA. Michael spent his childhood in Dallas and attended St. Pius X Elementary School and went on to graduated from Bishop Lynch High School in 1971. After graduating high school Michael briefly attended University Tulsa for one year and afterwards he served in the US Navy, and returned to continue his education at University of Texas. Michael went on to become a CPA. For the first 15 years he worked for several firms, including Fox, Byrd & Co, and went on to practice independently for almost 25 years. He was a parishioner of All Saints Catholic Church and participated in many professional organizations within the community.Mike adored his family and was always generous & giving. Although he was undeniably a workaholic, he always enjoyed time with friends & family. He loved to travel, go to concerts, play basketball, run, and he especially loved ping pong and poker nights with his college & high school friends. And, he always made time to attend any event his children participated in, including basketball, track, cheer-leading, & football.Mike endured a brief but courageous battle with cancer, always displaying his characteristic independence & dignity.Michael is preceded in death by his father Lewis Dunson and his nephew Michael G. Karr jr.He is survived by his loving wife Lois Dunson; his daughter AnnMarie and his sons Steven and Christopher; stepdaughters Aimee Herrin, Emily Beller and husband Brent; step-grandchildren Adeline, Harper, Bennett, and Colette; sisters, Marlene and husband KD Boyd, Kim Sine; brothers, Tim and wife Elsa and Matt and wife Becky; and his adoring mother Dean Dunson; Nieces and nephews, Charlotte Goff and husband Kevin, Mardel Martin and husband Richard, Michele Lotzer and husband Ben, Erin Sine, Elisa Dunson, Bryan Dunson, Jennifer Dunson Matson, and Thomas Dunson, Megan Knox and husband Stephen.He will be missed beyond measure by his coworkers, family, & friends.Family will be receiving guests Monday March 11, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm with the Holy Rosary starting 7pm at the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
