Five years after the passing of my bestie, Mike Dunson. I still have trouble understanding that he is actually gone. He was a friend to me like no other. Those who say a man and a woman can never really be friends, don't understand the connection that we had. It can be, and I miss him so much. He let me come into his office and sit on the edge of his desk and completely disparage the attorney causing me grief. He shared personal things with me about his family and his married life; he was a true friend. I can't believe he's been gone for five years. I loved and still love him so. Such a special man who cared for his family, children, and friends. Even spoke to me about his caring for his children's mother Cynthia after they were divorced, and how he wanted to help her and felt responsible. Integrity, integrity, integrity. That's what Mike was all about. Mike was a rare breed. He grew up in East Dallas and went to Bishop Lynch high school, and we shared stories about that since I sent my oldest born there as well. We regularly went to lunch and he would always pay, because he was old school in that way. I was fine with it of course! I miss his humor and quick wit. He did my taxes for ten years and we shared personal stories for a decade. I miss him so much. RIP my dear friend Mike! I think of you always and hope to see you again one day.
