Michael Eugene Durbin's Obituary
Michael Eugene Durbin March 27, 1942 – October 6, 2014 Mike Durbin age 72, of Garland, TX, passed away on October 6, 2014 of a heart attack. Survived by wife, Carol, children Tim (Kara) Durbin and James (Jamie) Durbin, two grandchildren (Kalli and Jake), siblings Jerry, Tom, Judy, and Debbie Whitfill, and numerous nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by parents Thelma & Chris Durbin as well as brothers Richard and Jim Durbin. Mike was a graduate of Jesuit College Preparatory School (’60), North Texas State University, and received his Master’s degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. He retired in 1981 as a Major from the US Air Force before beginning his second career at the University of Texas at Dallas School of Engineering and Computer Science as a lecturer and eventually College Master. He retired from UTD in 2000. Mike will be laid to rest Friday, October 10, 2014 with military honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 11:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baylor Healthcare System Research (https://give.baylorhealth.com/how-to-donate/donate-online Designation: Cancer Research) or the American Heart Association.
