Michael Lynn Ellerbrock's Obituary
Michael Lynn Ellerbrock of Garland, Texas, age 66, left this world peacefully and much too soon on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Born in Lima, Ohio, on February 27, 1949, Mike made his home in Texas following his military service in the United States Marine Corps. A proud Vietnam veteran, Mike was a longtime employee of Texas Instruments and WNC First Insurance Services, where he was genuinely loved by his co-workers. Mike was always the quiet man in the group, but, like E.F. Hutton, when Mike spoke, everyone listened. Mike loved a good joke and he loved sharing stories of his life experiences with friends and family. One story that stands out involved Mike’s USMC days when he was ordered to stand guard, in a downpour on a bitterly cold night, while the Marine Corps’ mascot, a bulldog, snoozed in a nice warm bed, courtesy of Mike’s dutiful defense of the dog. Preceded in death by his parents Norbert and Marie Ellerbrock, brothers Fred and Tom Ellerbrock, and son Jeffery Ellerbrock, Mike is survived by the absolute love of his life, Elaine, and his three beloved sons Glen, Steven, and Matthew Ellerbrock. Mike is also survived by Brothers Keith Ellerbrock (Beverley), Larry Ellerbrock (Christine), Sisters Barbara Feathers, Becky Bentz (Ron), sister-in-law Carol Ellerbrock and his very best friend Ben Bratcher (Bonnie). Mike also leaves behind a number of extended family members including numerous nieces and nephews and more friends than you can imagine. If a man’s wealth is measured by the love of his family and friends, Michael Lynn Ellerbrock leaves this life as the richest man on earth. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will take place at 12:00 pm on Monday, September 28, 2015 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Burial to follow at 2:30 pm at DFW National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
